The Claptrap Caravan was a children's puppet troupe/show allegedly aired on regional public access stations between 1981–1994. Its origins are murky — the only known production studio is listed as “Two Penny Productions”, based out of somewhere in Georgia (later redacted).
Episodes featured characters like:
The show mixed live puppetry with hand-drawn transitions, cut-in lectures from adult actors, and VHS-quality music segments. The last known official episode aired in 1994, though some claim it continued off-air via mailed tapes. Whispers of strange occurrences often mention
, a name only spoken quietly by those who searched the archives deeper.Hangdog was a character introduced in the final era of the show (approx. 1992–1994). He wasn’t in the early seasons and doesn’t appear on any VHS covers. No officially released tape includes his full segments. He’s described by fans and former crew as:
Hangdog’s segments often took place in the basement set, away from the colorful main show. He never directly interacted with the other puppets onscreen. In some recovered scripts, his name is crossed out and replaced with “H_DOG_3”
.
In 1994, a fire destroyed part of the studio. No official report mentions injuries. However, fan investigation uncovered records of a crew member named Jesse L. [REDACTED] who disappeared shortly before the fire and was believed to have operated the Hangdog suit.
Rumors suggest Jesse suffered an on-set accident involving rigging wires. Some believe he never left the building, and others claim he had been living in the Hangdog suit for weeks before the incident.
Most of this is unverifiable. But that's what this archive is for.
